Fish health experts, NT Labs, have taken a significant step towards sustainability by embracing green energy solutions. The company recently installed a series of solar panels, coupled with Tesla rechargeable batteries, at their specialist facility in Kent, with the aim of reducing their environmental footprint and promoting self-sufficiency.
In a recent video update, Paul Hooper, Managing Director of NT Labs, expressed his commitment to going green, and said; “We’re always trying to improve our green credentials, and solar was always something in the back of my mind. Then, when they were installing a new switch for the industrial estate over the road, we had a couple of power cuts, and we kept losing power, and it was interrupting. Although we don’t get that anymore, it kind of cemented in my mind that I was definitely going to put solar in so we were a bit more self-sufficient.
“In the few weeks that we’ve had it, it’s equivalent to us planting 90-odd trees, we’ve saved a tonne of carbon, the environmental impact and saving is great, and I really don’t understand why every commercial building doesn’t have solar panels on the roof.
“We’re saving money but also we’re contributing a bit more to the planet.”
The use of solar panels not only enables NT Labs to save money but also reinforces their commitment to preserving the planet. By harnessing renewable energy, the company actively contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change.
Paul jokingly added; “My new hobby is scrolling through the app on my phone, seeing how much energy we’re using, and telling people to turn things off!”
