Winter Pond Care: A Game-Changer For Koi Keepers
Winter can be a challenging time for Koi enthusiasts. As the temperature drops, Koi ponds require special attention to ensure the health and well-being of your prized fish. In this article, we welcome guest author Helena King from Euro-Matic who takes a look at why pond insulation balls could be a game-changed for your Koi pond during the winter months.

Koi Appreciation
We’ve introduced some changes to our Koi appreciation pages and as well as admiring the qualities of the Koi in our appreciation sections you also have the chance to buy them from the listed UK retailer!

Experiencing The Koi Wholesale Autumn Harvest Event
Just like the Ikeage (Harvest) that takes place every October in Japan, Ricky and the team at Koi Wholesale were also reeling in the fruits of the Summer season. We caught up with Ricky, who is not only the Co-founder of Koi Talk but also Managing Director of Koi Wholesale Ltd to see what the Harvest had in store and for some insights as to how such results were achieved.

Meet The Breeder: Takano (AKA The Secret Sanke Breeder)
Takano San, also known as the Secret Sanke breeder, is a mud pond builder by day, and is commissioned by breeders all around Niigata to build mud ponds for them. He considers himself to be a Koi hobbyist, and when he’s not building ponds he has a deep passion for Sanke. Over time Ricky Stoddart has developed a strong relationship with Takano San, and was fortunate enough to interview him on a recent trip to Japan.

Reader’s Ponds – Laura’s Pond, One For The Perfectionist!
This month sees Koi Talk travel over to North Yorkshire to visit Laura Scaum and we are pleased to welcome our first female Reader’s Pond into the magazine. In this article we delve into Laura’s background in the hobby, and hear about her exciting plans for 2024.

The Masterclass Guide – What Makes A Show Koi?
It is a term that gets thrown around a lot, ‘oh, that’s a show Koi’. I do it myself, but what does it actually mean and is there any substance behind it? In this month’s Masterclass article, magazine founder Chris Wall looks in detail at what actually makes a show Koi.
